Young Heart

My heart is young
And always hard pumping
How old am I? What's my age?
Remain it a secret, don't even guess
I know not, in truth, even myself
Blame not me, I do speak with verity

Know I but, no child am I
Well, nor teenager nor in essence, a youth
Yet I do declare, I fail to see
What makes men serious
Why are they not free?

My mind is bubbly
And always fast moving
Know this, I am what I profess to be
Insist inquisitor and I'll tell you this
I'm in love with life and liberty

Know not I where to I travel
Nor how far my needs do take me
Care not I, let it remain a mystery
Winged am I, my heels are feathered
I'm mercury: fluid, cold and slippery
And I daresay, hard to hold.
